FAQ'S

    BODY Inner Beauty Powder

Does BODY take the place of a probiotic?+

BODY contains prebiotics (food for the good bacteria to thrive on) and probiotics (the actual good bacteria). So for many people, BODY may be enough to be their only probiotic supplement. Others, however, who have specific digestive issues may need more concentrated forms of probiotics or more specific strains. In these cases, BODY is excellent to use alongside a course of specific probiotic strains, as it feeds those strains and helps them to become established and flourish within the digestive tract.

Fermented foods are foods that have been through a process of lacto-fermentation in which natural bacteria feed on the sugar and starch in the food ,creating lactic acid. This process creates millions of friendly bacteria. BODY contains the following probiotics: L acidophilus, L plantarum, L rhamnosus, B lactis and B longum.

I already take the GLOW/CLEANSE powders, should I also take the BODY powder?+

We recommend BODY to people who want support in reaching and maintaining a healthy weight range. While it has some of the benefits of GLOW and CLEANSE, it is a specific approach for weight management and a healthy meal/snack replacement.

Why use rice and pea protein rather than whey protein?+

We have chosen the plant-based proteins rice and pea for three main reasons.
    1. They are a fantastic hypoallergenic protein source that most people can tolerate. Whey protein is based on dairy products and many people can be intolerant to it.
    2. Rice and pea proteins are suitable for anyone following a vegetarian or vegan diet.
    3. People are under the assumption that rice and pea proteins are superior to whey when it comes to muscle building and weight management. However, studies have shown that this is incorrect.

    CLEANSE Inner Beauty Powder

Is the CLEANSE powder/program safe to use with type 2 diabetes?+

CLEANSE is made from whole foods that are naturally low in fructose. It is usually fine to use if you have type 2 diabetes, but everyone is different. Therefore we always suggest that you consult your healthcare practitioner before commencing these products. In addition, always start the product at a reduced dose of 1/8 tsp and gradually increase until you are at the full recommended dose. This allows you to monitor your blood sugar levels closely.

    Does CLEANSE contain fibre?+

It is rich in soluble fibre, which is fuel for the good bacteria in the gut, as well as helping to sweep the intestines clean.

I have just started the 14-day CLEANSE program and I am feeling really tired and worse than normal.+

CLEANSE contains herbs and nutrients that are designed to gently support your body’s own natural detoxification processes. For some people who have never done a CLEANSE before, this may present with certain symptoms – including mild headaches, minor skin breakouts, fatigue, moodiness and mild general aches and pains.

These are all signs that the body’s elimination and detoxification pathways are overwhelmed by the cleaning process. They can also be the effects of withdrawal from a food or chemical. A common example is the headache people experience when they stop caffeine.
While these signs and symptoms are an indication that the 14-day CLEANSE program is working, they aren't necessary and can be uncomfortable. So what can we do about them?

At any stage, if you are feeling too uncomfortable, reduce the dose of the CLEANSE Inner Beauty Powder to half. Once the symptoms have subsided, then you can resume at the full dose. Other things to try include:

    • Increasing your water intake. You should be drinking at least 2 litres of fresh filtered water on this program, but some people may need more. Increase to 2.5 litres and even 3 litres if the detox symptoms are still strong.
      • Reducing the intensity of your exercise, especially if you are feeling fatigued during the program.

Is the CLEANSE powder/program safe to use with type 2 diabetes?

CLEANSE is made from whole foods that are naturally low in fructose. It is usually fine to use if you have type 2 diabetes, but everyone is different. Therefore we always suggest that you consult your healthcare practitioner before commencing these products. In addition, always start the product at a reduced dose of 1/8 tsp and gradually increase until you are at the full recommended dose. This allows you to monitor your blood sugar levels closely.

Since taking CLEANSE I have been experiencing digestive complaints – bloating, flatulence, discomfort, etc. What does this mean?+

It is very rare, but occasionally CLEANSE may cause some digestive discomfort when first starting.
Firstly, if your body isn't used to the level of fibre that it contains, then it can cause some initial bloating and flatulence when you first start taking it. In addition, CLEANSE is an effective probiotic and prebiotic, and when you first start taking these, they can also cause bloating and discomfort as your own internal bowel flora adjust.

I have intolerances to some of the foods that are listed as ingredients in the powder. Does that mean I can't have them?+

We find that many people with intolerances to ingredients in the CLEANSE powder have no reactions when they use it. This is because the fermentation process renders the protein coating of foods and grains harmless. It is this protein coating that is usually the culprit in food allergies and intolerances. However, to be on the safe side, always start with a very small dose – 1/8 tsp – and gradually increase your intake until you have reached the full dose. Also, it has been recognised that the use of pro- and prebiotics over time are an effective way to reduce intolerances and sensitivities, as well as improve digestive function.

    General Questions

I have intolerances to some of the foods that are listed as ingredients in the Inner Beauty products. Does that mean I can't have them?+

We find that many people with intolerances to ingredients in the Inner Beauty products have no reactions when they use the powder. This is because the fermentation process renders the protein coating of foods and grains harmless. It is this protein coating that is usually the culprit in food allergies and intolerances. However, to be on the safe side, always start with a very small dose – about 1/8 of a scoop – and gradually increase your intake until you have reached the full scoop. Also, over time, the use of pro- and prebiotics is an effective way to reduce a person’s intolerances and sensitivities, as well as improve digestive function.

Should fermented foods be avoided when dealing with candida?+

There is a difference between products that contain strains of wild yeast (such as kombucha) and products that are safely fermented with a starter culture. Foods that are fermented with a starter can repair leaky gut and combat yeast overgrowth. All of the Beauty Chef products are fermented using a starter culture that contains specific strains of helpful yeast and bacteria (such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Lactobacillus acidophilus). These strains help to safeguard against the growth of wild and potentially harmful microbes, which may grow without a starter culture. There is plenty of research to show that the good bacteria in these safely fermented foods help to fight candida.

I don't know which powder to use? Can I use all of them together?+

GLOW is a fantastic, nutritious, fermented powder for everyday use and helps to support skin, digestive and whole-body health.

CLEANSE has very similar properties, but it also contains specific ingredients that provide nutritional support for the body’s detoxification and elimination pathways. For most people we suggest that they use GLOW on a daily basis for most of the year, and once or twice a year replace it with the CLEANSE powder for extra detoxification support.

BODY is recommended for people who require support with reaching and maintaining a healthy weight range. While it still has some of the benefits of GLOW and CLEANSE, it is part of a specific approach for weight management and is a healthy meal/snack replacement.

It is certainly possible to use the three powders together, but the most common way that people enjoy them is to use BODY and GLOW together for most of the time. Then, when they want to add in some extra detoxification support, they replace GLOW with CLEANSE.

Do the Inner Beauty Powders contain flavouring and colouring?+

The powders contain natural flavours, which make them more enjoyable to consume. They are only in the powders in very small percentages. We only use the highest quality natural flavours and ensure that they meet stringent food safety regulations and standards. All ingredients used in the manufacture of our natural flavours are approved for use in the FSANZ Food Standards Code 2002 (including all gazetted amendments). They are all made from natural ingredients, all of which are also classified as FEMA/GRAS according to US FDA regulations (this means that they are recognised as safe by the US FDA).

I am on a paleo diet and am worried about the phytic acid in grains and legumes.+

All the grains and legumes in our products have been sprouted and fermented, so levels of phytic acid and other anti-nutrients have been neutralised, leaving only the good nutrients boosted and bio-available for the body to use.

Where do the ingredients used in your products come from?+

Where possible we source Australian-grown ingredients. In instances where Australian-grown ingredients are unavailable, we use imported organic, sustainably grown ingredients.

How should I store my Inner Beauty products?+

Because of the living cultures and bacteria in the Inner Beauty products, we do recommend that you keep them refrigerated once opened. If this is not possible, due to travel for example, ensure that your powder is kept out of direct sunlight and away from high heat. The unique fermentation process each powder undergoes ensures that these bacteria remain quite hardy and so should not be adversely affected if kept unrefrigerated for short periods of a few days or so.

Are your products gluten and lactose free?+

ll of the ingredients in GLOW and CLEANSE are gluten and lactose free. However, the manufacturing plant does process other products that contain gluten, so we can’t guarantee that GLOW and CLEANSE are completely uncontaminated.

BODY contains a blend of barley grass, wheat grass, alfalfa grass and oat grass. While these grasses are technically gluten free, we state on the label that traces may be found in the grasses, so we cannot claim it is gluten free here in Australia. The product is gluten free by US standards.

I am fructose intolerant – can I take The Beauty Chef Inner Beauty Powders?+

Our Inner Beauty Powders are made from whole foods that are naturally low in fructose. Furthermore, our unique fermentation process, Flora Cuture™, causes the foods to become much more digestible and better tolerated. The actual sugar content of our powders is very low and the sweetener we use is natural stevia.

    Where are your products manufactured?+

All Beauty Chef products are proudly manufactured in Australia.

Can I give the Inner Beauty products to my children?+

It is fine for children to take GLOW Inner Beauty Powder and the Inner Boosts. In fact, they are a great way to supplement their diets and they taste great. We recommend ½ dosage for a child under 10 and a full dose for those over 10. Always start off slowly with 1/8 of a dose, and gradually build up the dose.

BODY does contain caffeine and so we do not recommend this product for children under 16 years. We also don’t recommend CLEANSE for children under the age of 16.

Do your products contain animal products, and are they tested on animals?+

All of The Beauty Chef products are vegetarian and are NOT tested on animals.

    GLOW Inner Beauty Powder

When I started taking GLOW, I noticed that I had a skin breakout. Is this normal?+

It is possible that you when you first start taking GLOW, you may notice some mild detoxification symptoms (pimples, mild headaches, fatigue). However, by starting at the recommended dose of 1/8 of a teaspoon and gradually increasing it to 1 tsp, you are unlikely to notice any of these symptoms. If you do experience them, reduce the dose slightly until the symptoms stop and then resume, gradually increasing the dose until you are up to a full teaspoon. Make sure you drink plenty of water when you first start the powders in order to lessen any side effects.

What are the actual levels of vitamins and minerals in GLOW?+

As GLOW is a food-based product, the actual levels of vitamins are much lower than that found in a synthetic multivitamin. However, because it is a food-based product, the nutrients are much more readily absorbed, are found in combinations that are occur naturally in nature and the fermentation process increases the nutrient value by up to 200 times than that found in normal fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains. For example, the vitamin C found in cabbage can increase up to 100-fold when the cabbage is fermented.

Is GLOW safe to take for type 2 diabetes?+

GLOW is made from whole foods that are naturally low in fructose. They are usually fine to use if you have type 2 diabetes, but everyone is different. Therefore, we always suggest that you consult your healthcare practitioner before commencing these products. In addition, always start the product at a reduced dose of 1/8 tsp and gradually increase until you are at the full 5g recommended dose. This allows you to monitor your blood sugar levels closely.

What is the best way to take GLOW?+

GLOW Inner Beauty Powder can be taken on an empty stomach or with food – it doesn't really matter. It can be mixed into a smoothie, made into protein balls (see www.thebeautychef.com for recipes), or mixed into a glass of water before breakfast or for a mid-morning/afternoon snack.

    Does GLOW contain hormones?+

GLOW is a completely natural whole food supplement that doesn’t have any added hormones. While it doesn't have any added oestrogen, it does consist of foods such as lentils, chickpeas and mung beans that naturally contain low levels of healthy phytoestrogens.

    Does GLOW contain fibre?+

GLOW is rich in soluble fibre, which is fuel for the good bacteria in the gut, as well as helping to sweep the intestines clean.

If I take GLOW, do I still need to take my multi, zinc and other nutrients?+

Without a detailed health history, it is difficult to determine if GLOW is the only nutritional supplementation that you need. For that reason, if you have been advised to take your other supplements by a healthcare practitioner, then you will need to discuss with them the best course of action to take. On the other hand, if the nutrients that you are taking have been self-prescribed, then it’s possible you could try just taking GLOW and see how you feel.

Does GLOW help to improve my digestion?+

GLOW Inner Beauty Powder can help to improve digestive health in three main ways:
    1. It contains high levels of probiotics and prebiotics – both of which have been shown to improve general digestive health as well as help to control pathogen overgrowth and improve overall immunity of the body.
    2. It provides important nutrients in a highly digestible form, including potent antioxidants.
    3. It provides fibre and phytonutrients that are critical to bowel and digestive health and helps to keep bowels regular.

Does GLOW take the place of a probiotic?+

GLOW Inner Beauty Powder contains prebiotics (food for the good bacteria to thrive on) and probiotics (the actual good bacteria). So for many people, GLOW is strong enough to be their only probiotic supplement.

Others, however, who have specific digestive issues, may need more concentrated forms of probiotics or more specific strains of probiotics. In these cases, GLOW is excellent to use alongside a course of specific probiotic strains, as it feeds those strains and helps them to become established and flourish within the digestive tract.
Fermented foods are foods that have been through a process of lacto-fermentation in which natural bacteria feed on the sugar and starch in the food creating lactic acid. This process creates millions of friendly bacteria. GLOW contains around 500 million friendly bacteria per 5g serve. These include: L acidophilus, L delbrueckii, L casei, L bulgaricus, L caucasicus, L fermenti, L plantarum, L brevis, L helveticus, L lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Saccharomyces boulardii, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

    Does GLOW contain fructose?+

LOW is made from whole foods that are naturally low in fructose. Furthermore, the fermentation process causes the foods to become much more digestible and tolerated. The actual sugar content of GLOW is tiny, at 0.98 gm per 100mgs. It is always a good idea to start GLOW at a reduced dose of 1/8 tsp and gradually increase until you are at the full 5g recommended dose.

How does GLOW help to improve the skin’s health and appearance?+

GLOW Inner Beauty Powder improves the skin's health in a number of ways:

    * it improves digestive function (through the probiotics), which consequently improves the skin's immunity and helps to reduce allergies and their effect on skin. This is particularly important in allergic skin conditions such as eczema. Many skin conditions have been shown to improve with the use of probiotics including acne, eczema and psoriasis.

    * It provides important nutrients (vitamins and minerals) for the skin, in concentrated doses due to the fermentation process.

    * It provides potent levels of antioxidants, which are crucial for healthy, youthful skin, help to prevent wrinkles and premature ageing,
    * It is very alkalising, which is important for skin in general, but also for many skin conditions.

For all of the reasons above, if you are taking GLOW Inner Beauty Powder, you should experience healthier skin and improved whole-body health. The time frame in which this will happen will vary from person to person, depending on the state of your individual gut function and overall health.

Skin cells take 30-45 days to turn over and be renewed, so this is usually the minimum timeframe before a typical person will notice differences, while red blood cells and the integration of nutrients into the body takes up to 120 days, so we would expect to see a difference by the end of four months. Having said that though, we have lots of people tell us that they can notice a difference within the first week.
